What work of art (film, book, record, whatever) changed your life?
Submitted by bodhibound.
All of them.
Or they should.
Well, the good ones.
If any work of art doesn't change your life, then what good is it?
Where is the farthest you have ever been away from home? Did you get homesick?
Submitted by Melissa.
As I could get.
No homesickness, but melancholy nostalgia from time to time.
It's dedication time. What song are you sending out, and who is it dedicated to?
Tom Petty "This One's For Me" from the album Echo.
Dedicated to myself.
This one's for me, this one's for me
Not for anyone else, I need it you see
I threw all I had into the sea
Now I want a little back, this one's for me
Lover I found the mistakes I've made
Will follow me down into my grave
So much has gone by, so many to please
Well this one I'll keep, this one's for me
And you don't even know what you got
'Til it's walking away
Yeah, you don't even know what you had
'Til it laughs in your face
Some other time, some other day
We'll sing this again some other way
So much has gone by, don't know where to start
Well this one I'll keep here in my heart
And you don't even know what you want
'Til it's walking away
Yeah, you don't even know what you had
'Til it laughs in your face
This one's for me, this one's for me
Not for anyone else, I need it you see
I threw all I had into the sea
Now I want a little back, this one's for me
And you don't even know what you've got
'Til it's walking away
Yeah, you don't even know what you had
'Til it laughs in your face.
Led Zeppelin will finally offer their music online starting next month. Of the music you buy, about how much of it do you download and how much do you buy on physical formats (CDs, vinyl, etc.)?
100% physical graffiti.
I'm not opposed to digi, I just haven't done it, ever, for purchased music.
With a physical album, you can put it on, turn down the lights for the evening, fill a tumbler with your choice of spirit, recline in a comfortable chair with a blanket over your legs, and lazily flip through the liner notes and melt away.
I've just never found an elegant way to do that with digi music.
Do you have a regular workout routine? What's your favorite form of exercise?
In
Out
Repeat
Whether up, down, or sideways, I have no preference.
After all the recent season and series finales, what are you watching on TV these days?
Lately on TV at night, I watch our reflections on the darkened screen, as the wife and I read books on the couch.
What's the weirdest baby name you've ever heard (or considered)?
Weird?
Cruel?
That imposes an implied negative bias against uncommon names.
I'd hoped you were all more open-minded than that.
Three cheers for all the souls brave enough to not name their sons from the bible or their daughters from the "What's most popular this year" baby-name list.
The name itself is never cruel.
You want cruel? Look at the people making fun of the kid because of his/her name.
They are the cruel ones.
What sites show up if you type "S" into your browser's address bar?
Nothing, not a thing.
Browser auto-deletes history, cookies, authenticated sessions, and cache upon exiting.
And I exit each time I'm no longer using the browser window.
Residual paranoia from the strangely alien corporate world.
What is (or would be) your DJ name?
"No-Man's-Homie"
What modern book do you think will be read in high school by the next generation of kids?
Submitted by Tom.
A novel by Joey Goebel titled, Torture the Artist
Damn if he doesn't bring a metaphorical knee up smartly into the huevos of current pop culture.
Seriously, read the book and smirk at what you see passing for entertainment around you.
My own kids will earn an extra allowance for submitting a book report to me on this text when they are of an appropriate age.
